Student newspaper of the Tacoma Community College. This issue is numbered volume VIII, number 21 and is eight pages.
This issue contains stories on Afro-American history instructor Rev. Elijah Hankerson, including his receipt of a faculty fellowship for the College Faculty Institute on Africa at Hamline University (Minnesota); the Challenge winning second place in the Sigma Delta Chi Excellence in Journalism awards; several state bills seeking to determine oversight of vocational institutes; a lecture by Fullbright Scholar Dr. Norimoto Iino on Japanese haiku poetry; student Ray Miller and his independent study at the state legislature; golf team, track team, and tennis team news, including new tennis players struggling to win; the Student Information Referral Center (SIRC), formed to provide students with information on career, legal, medical, etc. issues; history instructor Yun-Yi Ho teaching Chinese cooking classes at Peninsula High School; the State Board of Community Colleges monthly meeting, including discussion of the services and activities student fee.
Also includes letters to the editor responding to previous letter suggesting faculty are opposed to occupational programs, rebutting a previous editorial on the conflict with administration, responding to criticism of the admissions office staff; ads and classified ads; health column on an upcoming family planning seminar; a column on a Paul McCartney TV special.
Announcements include campus part-time jobs, the forensics team winning trophies at the Lower Columbia College Red Devil Invitational, open applications for National Science Foundation research proposals, the deadline for Air Force ROTC enrollment, Listening/Language Laboratory hours, a foreign student scholarship, open applications for the next nursing class, meetings for a group interested in a criminal justice TV program, a Nichiren Shoshu Academy of America presentation on Buddhism in the library, the second annual Write-A-Poem Fortnight at Tacoma Public Library with local poets reading, an accreditation steering committee meeting, the need to continue registering for the draft, the bookstore purchasing Business Law 200 textbooks, a Casino Night event, the library being closed for Easter, Christian Science Informal Group meetings.
